CONDITIONS OF ENTRY TO FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS

  1. COMPETITION PROCEDURE
    • The Foursomes Championships is a Foursomes stroke event played over 18 holes.
    • Foursomes is a competition played by teams of two players using one ball. The partners strike off alternately from the tee and thereafter strike the ball alternately during the play of each hole.
    • A minimum of 12 pairs are required for the competition to be played. There must be a minimum of 14 pairs for the competition to be divided into two (2) grades (minimum of 7 pairs per grade)
    • If 14 pairs is exceeded the grades will be determined by as near as possible to halving the field.
    • Handicap allowance is ½ of the aggregate daily handicap of the players.
    • In the event of a tie in scratch events a sudden death playoff will be held over holes decided by host club. In the event of a tie in handicap events positions shall be decided by count-back as recommended by Golf Australia.
    • The event shall be a timesheet start in handicap order.
    • This Competition shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R & A Club of St. Andrews, together with such local rules as are in force on the course over which the competition takes
  1. ELIGIBILITY

Entries are restricted to amateurs and open to all bona-fide women members of GOLF WEST GIPPSLAND.

  1. ENTRIES
    • The entry fee is $30 per pair for the 18 hole event.
    • Entries shall be made via Try Booking or directly to GWG Womens captain.
    • Players are required to report to the starter a minimum of 15 minutes prior to their scheduled tee time.
    • After a team has been entered into the competition one substitute player may be allowed.
  1. TROPHIES

Trophies will be awarded for:-

  • 18 Hole Scratch Champions
  • 18 Hole Scratch Minor Champions
  • 18 Hole Handicap Champions (A and B Grade)
  • Runners Up in each Champion event
  • NTP’s if, even and odd holes available
  • DTL Balls (excluding winners)
  1. EVENT COMMITTEE

The G.W.G. Match & Play (M&P) shall have the entire management of the competition and have full power to alter or vary the program.

If a dispute arises on any point, it shall be decided by the G.W.G. M&P, whose discretion shall be final, provided however, that if the committee be in doubt, it shall have the right to refer any such dispute to the council of G.A. whose decision shall be final.

  1. REFUND POLICY

Any entrant may withdraw and have their entry fee refunded providing notification is received within two working days prior to the commencement of the event. Under no circumstances will entry fees be refunded after this date unless players can provide G.W.G. M&P supporting documents regarding their withdrawal from the event (i.e.

Medical Certificate) or at the discretion of M&P.

  1. MOTORISED TRANSPORT
    • Players may use a motorised cart for this event.
    • It is the players’ responsibility to book the cart and to ensure that carts may be used on the day of play at the club hosting the event.
  1. HOT WEATHER GUIDELINES

In the event of a forecast temperature of 30 degrees or over at 7pm on the evening immediately prior to the scheduled day of play GWG M&P in consultation with the host club has the authority to start the competition up to 1 hour earlier than the designated start time. If by 7pm on the evening immediately prior to the scheduled day of play the forecast temperature is 35 degrees or higher the competition will be rescheduled to another date in consultation with the host club and GWG M&P.

  1. INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event of inclement weather it is the responsibility of the host club of the event to check the course and in consultation with GWG M&P declare whether the course is playable or unplayable. In the instance of lightning or dangerous winds the course would not need to be inspected as all players would be aware of these conditions. If rain is the inclement weather the host club needs to check the areas of the course that would usually have water problems and assess whether the course is playable.

  1. Where play has not commenced :-
    1. If the course is declared PLAYABLE by the host club then play MUST proceed. Any player not wishing to proceed at their allocated tee time will forfeit their entry fee for the
    2. If the course is declared UNPLAYABLE by the host club then play will be suspended for 1 HOUR, during which time the conditions will be reassessed. If at the end of 1 HOUR the course is still unplayable then the competition will be rescheduled to another date in consultation between the host club and GWG M&P.
  2. Where play has commenced :-

It is the responsibility of GWG M&P and the host club to make the decision to suspend play. The HOOTER WILL BE SOUNDED if the course is deemed to be unplayable. Players should either (a) mark their ball, or (b) finish the hole and then return to the clubhouse. Play will be suspended for up to 1 HOUR, during which time the conditions will be reassessed.

  1. If at the end of 1 HOUR the course is still UNPLAYABLE then play will be cancelled. GWG M&P will determine whether the length of the competition will be shortened or the competition will be replayed at a date to be determined in consultation with the host club.
  2. If at the end of 1 HOUR the course is declared PLAYABLE play is to recommence. Any players not wishing to continue with play will not be considered for any
