Golf West Gippsland (GWG) was formed in 2019 from the merger of
the West Gippsland District Golf Association (WGDGA) and
the Women’s Golf West Gippsland (WGWG).
Who We Are:
There are 11 Member Clubs in the GWG District which stretches from Pakenham in the west through to Traralgon in the east:
District Competitions
GWG stages a number of District Tournaments open to any Member of a Member Club, as well as promoting various Club based open competition events, such as Men’s Plate Day and Women’s Bowl Days.
The peak District Competitions are the Annual Men’s and Women’s Pennant.
Men’s Pennant has five Divisions – Scratch 1, Scratch 2, Handicap 1, Handicap 2 and Handicap 3.
The Women’s Pennant is run across two Divisions – Division 1 & 2 Handicap.
Country Week
A representative team is picked each year for Country Week competitions, staged annually by Golf Australia, showcasing the best of all regional Victorian Golf Districts.
In 2019, our Men’s Team won Division 2, promoting them back to Division 1 for 2020.
Our Women’s Team competed in Divison 3 finishing fourth overall. The result did not reflect how well the team performed in each match. The team fought to the end of every match with a number of these matches decided on the 18th green.

and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing.” – Ben Hogan
